Honors Thesis Honors students graduating We strongly encourage students to write an honors thesis. Students must satisfy the following requirements to graduate with honors, as specified on the form: Find a faculty advisor in economics or in the partner department for joint concentrators by the end of junior year Essay plato descartes and the matrix in ECON in the fall semester of senior year or, for joint concentrators, an equivalent course in the partner department.
Graduation Requirements
Three or four students form a group. These projects are problem set versions of an empirical thesis that I assign.
They consist of a simple economic model, a hypothesis to test, and results. The group does the test and writes up the results. Individual projects 15 minute summary of an economic research paper which is published in an economic journal within the last five years, or a working paper, eg, National Bureau of Economic Research NBER.
Published or working papers usually are technically difficult. The papers usually represent several years work.
You have only a semester. The papers give you a model for presenting research. They are not a thesis.
You have a semester to do more work. PH A honor be successfully completed or can be taken concurrently with Instructor permission. This introductory course will emphasize infectious diseases of public health importance focusing on the core concepts of infectious disease transmission, evidence-based approaches for prevention and control, and epidemiologic creative writing pedagogy for studying infectious diseases.
Berkeley course is organized around two primary modules: Within each thesis, students will consider the range of clinical, methodological and ethical challenges faced by infectious disease epidemiologists and econ health practitioners.
Major infectious diseases will be discussed with an emphasis on disease surveillance, investigative procedures, and prevention programs. Current problems in health agencies at a state, national, and international level will be emphasized.
